The National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia (INAT) was founded in 1898 and is therefore the oldest higher agriculture education institution in Africa and has trained through the years the finest human resources specialized in agriculture not only in Tunisia but also in many other continents
Today INAT is under the double supervision of the Ministry for Agriculture and the Ministry for Higher Education.
The National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia works around three main axes: training of agriculture engineers with a Bachelor degree as well as post-graduate training in various areas of agriculture. In addition INAT is a leader in agriculture research and extension and continuing education. The new students coming to INAT can choose among seven specialties after having received a required common course for one year.
Training is organized in seven specialties covering various fields of agronomic sciences:

The training within the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia is provided as theoretical courses, laboratory exercises, practical works, bibliographic analysis reports, as well as field visits to farms, agricultural companies and industries and a study trip towards the last semester. In addition the students follow training periods through their three-year formation cycle and their project of end of studies is carried out in an agricultural company for six months.
The training at the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia is versatile. Indeed, the student gets a rich experience in sciences related to agronomy. Thus he can analyze situations and use his knowledge to optimize the systems of production.
Within the framework of the training of the students, the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia has a vast international collaboration with research centers and universities in many countries that allowed the exchange of teachers and students as well as the formation of international executives and a synergy between the training, the research and development.
